About Madeleine

Madeleine Brumley Clavier is an attorney, a Lafayette local, and a lifelong Democrat who loves Louisiana. She is running for the Democratic State Central Committee to bring the fresh perspective needed to reshape the Louisiana Democratic Party. If you are a registered Democrat living in District 45, Madeleine hopes to earn your vote on March 23, 2024.

After graduating from the Lafayette High School Gifted & Talented Program, Madeleine’s educational journey took her to Wellesley College and later to Columbia Law School. Following the 2016 election, Madeleine returned home to Lafayette, driven by the desire to expand the Democratic Party’s reach and positive impact on the place that shaped her. She started knocking on doors for the Precinct Organizing Project and volunteering on local campaigns. Madeleine later served on EMERGE Louisiana and Lady Dems of Acadiana boards and was a part of the New Leaders Council Class of 2019.

Madeleine’s dedication to the betterment of our community and commitment to excellence have been the driving forces behind her professional endeavors. As a young attorney, Madeleine fought for justice, helping to recover millions for Louisiana families, cities, and parishes impacted by the opioid crisis. Her legal journey continues to be marked by a passion for standing up against powerful interests, and her current practice focuses on holding corporations accountable for putting profits over safety.

Madeleine is running for DSCC because the Democratic Party needs a fresh approach. Running candidates who moderate on policy to try to win over conservative voters has not produced results. With polarization on the rise and voter turnout remaining stubbornly low, there is no reason to think it ever will. Instead, the Democratic Party needs to engage communities, organize at the grassroots level, register new voters, and recruit and support candidates who champion issues that inspire people to the polls. Building a new Democratic Party in Louisiana is possible only with new leadership.

By voting for Madeleine, you are voting for a Democratic Party that truly represents our shared values and works tirelessly for a better Louisiana.
